Save a Life Day started in West Virginia in 2020 as a two-county pilot project. Just three years later, it has grown into a regional movement with more than 300 naloxone distribution events across all 13 Appalachian states on September 14.

Led by Charleston-based SOAR WV, the event brings communities together to distribute naloxone (Narcan)—a safe, easy-to-use medication that reverses opioid overdoses.

“You never know when you might need that… best case scenario, you have it and you know how to use it and you never have to.”
Iris Sidikman, Save a Life Day Coordinator, SOAR WV
